Alan Titchmarsh loves Miscanthus too. He's used it in his recent series Love Your Garden. As a rhizome it provides continuous colour and sculpture to a domestic border. Growing up to 8 ft canes of summer green and red swishy leaves, and golden canes in springtime with frond like flowers that look like ostrich feathers.
