The season so far...catch up with Harriet Mitchell

On the run up to Nunney International Horse Trails and in the midst of a busy season it is time to catch up with brand ambassador Harriet Mitchell to see how she is going with the season so far

What a start to the season we have had. After my collarbone break which finished my 2020 season early I hadn’t been eventing since the end of August!

All of the horses came out fresh and ready to go at Tweseldown where I had both of my two horses, Iceman and Jameson in the Novice. Great first runs for them to get me back into it! I did feel a little rusty as usually I would have been jumping at BS shows over the winter months but sadly was not able to.

Kimi, myself and co ( Alfie, Giedo, Nui and Nicole) then made the long journey to Norfolk, Burnham Market. There I had Kimi in our first Intermediate together. He did a good test and a wonderful SJ round with just the last fence down. Set out on the XC which was big and causing its fair share of issues throughout the day. He was just amazing the whole way, one rider mistake meeting the drop at the second water wrong and meant we had circle. Totally my fault which I have (hopefully) learnt from!

Jameson then had a super run the following week at brilliant Bicton! He did a super double clear making very light work of the Novice course.

Following on from Burnham Market Kimi and I went to Cirencester Park for the Intermediate. A fantastic venue and great to have another super event not too far away! After getting drenched in a hail/rain storm during our dressage test then made the ground very slippery and muddy on top! Thankfully my little 15.2 skipped through the mud for a super clear!

A very muddy and wet Aston Le Walls - I had Jameson in the Novice. Very exciting dressage test which wasn’t our finest! He did then redeem himself with a class double clear. Iceman had a great run on Sat in the Int, 30 double clear gave us a top 20 placing in a tough section.

Both horses will now have a few weeks off eventing and set to run at Nunney International with Jameson in the 2* and Iceman I the 3* towards the end of June! Really excited about this year with my two horses! They are feeling better and more mature every time we go to a party!

My new sponsors Burlybed have been a huge support this season and I am super grateful. I use the Burlybed Original, the original and best miscanthus bedding. It is unbelievably absorbent, stays tidy and gives my 4 legged friends fantastic nights sleep. It’s quick and easy to muck out with my busy days and I would recommend it to anyone!

Hope everyone else is having a great start to their season and staying safe.
